Stayed here with a living social discount. I will review both the Inn and the restaurant seperately here: The INN: Staff is very friendly and efficient, room was a good size (Garden Room), plenty of amenities. We had a window air conditioning unit, a queen size bed, a huge closet and a dresser with an LCD tv on top. Good amount of TV channels for some late night surfing. The bathroom left a lot to be desired. The shower stall is pretty tight and the shower curtain is over sized and hogs the floor. (stepping on it skeeves me out). Also, the towels smelt funky. It smells like when you leave towels in the wash for too long when the cycle is over. Not a big fan. Ditto for the bedding. I also learned the hard way that the outlet is powered by the switch, lights off, no phone charger. We arrived to a wine and cheese platter. The cheese was great, the wine was very good. There is also a porch on the 2nd floor (2 actually) and a porch on the front which are great for relaxing.(the are currently replacing the front porch). We also got some help marking up a map for water holes, waterfalls, hiking trails, and general sights. Along with that, they packed a picnic lunch for us for our day trip. Unfortunately, the towels/bedding paired with not much in the area to do in the summer is enough of a turn off for me to probably not come back. The Restaurant: We ate here twice for breakfast and once for dinner. The breakfasts were including in our package. The prices are a little high, but not too crazy. Pricing changes in the off season would probably be a good idea, but it is a pretty captive audience. Food was good, served the way we like it, and plenty of food for a round breakfast. Dinner was pretty good. The hours are supposed to be until 9:30-10 on the weekend. We got in at 9 for dinner and one of the staff members said we would have to order immediately as the kitchen in closing. That put me off a little, but our actual server made no mention of it and was very friendly (even though we were the only ones there and were obviously keeping her from going home). We got the scallops with rissoto and a lobster special. The lobster special was a 1.25lb lobster with potatoes, soup, and corn on the cob. Great deal especially considering the prices being pretty high (especially off season). I had the scallops with risotto. The scallops were huge and the risotto was great. My only complaint was the salt. The scallops were def overly salty. Prices in general on the menu were pretty high. The scallops were 26$ and everything else was in the same neighborhood. While everything was good and presented very well, I thought this was pretty steep. We had dessert too, the apple pie alamode. Delicious. If I didn't have the discount to the restaurant, I probably would have stayed away due to the prices. Luckily I did have the discount and was able to enjoy myself. I think the total for a round of drinks (or 2), entrees and dessert was about 80$ plus tip.

The breakfast was OK nothing special, I had a better breakfast at a dinner not too far from 1846. The 4 stars is for the dinner. I was with a rather large group and each of us had some sort of change to the menu option. The waitress was very nice and the chief accommodated the changes. The food was delicious. The wings tasted just as good as they smelled. I recommend getting them!

We ate at the restaurant while staying at the nearby Deerfield inn as we had a $25 credit. I'm glad we had a credit since I would have expected a $70+ dinner for two people to be substantially better. Maybe I'm spoiled from living in San Francisco but if I'm paying that much for a meal I expect it to be amazing and this fell very short. The pumpkin soup was painfully sweet with the great amount of maple syrup added and the butternut squash ravioli was served at a tepid temperature. The pumpkin pie was ok but the crust was rock hard. Overall I would not recommend to anyone based on the prices. Lower the prices by $5-10 per dish and this might be worth it. Also the restaurant portion is very awkwardly arranged and lacks some ambiance. The tavern/bar area has a nice vibe though.

My husband and I stayed at the Inn for a long weekend and only had a chance to have breakfast here. It was an AMAZING breakfast- best we had all weekend. My omlette was calling my name the rest of the weekend. I had the goat cheese with asparagus and carmelized onions. My husband enjoyed his meal too. I WILL be back for that omlette! Having stayed at the Inn we saw how packed the restaurant and bar were on Friday and Sat nights as we went to other reservations. Since we were staying there and ended up at the bar for nightcaps every night we ate other places for dinner to get out of the "house". Had we stayed one more night we would have had dinner there. I can tell you that this was the BUSIEST of any of the restaurants we did go to. Based on my research 1846 was third on my list to try -largely bc we were also staying there- and we were only there for dinner 2 nights. It should have been higher on my list! I won't say where we ate- because we enjoyed those places too, BUT I regret not having dinner at 1846. The staff was all really nice, friendly and helpful- the place is cozy and inviting. There are fireplaces everywhere. During our time in the bar there wasn't a frown on anyone (and we did spend a lot of time in the bar)! Great wine selection and local beers on tap. We found the bartender attentive and quick with service. When we go back to West Dover we will go for dinner next time, no question. (and breakfast every morning!!)

I loved the 1846 Tavern and Restaurant. I was staying at the Grand Summit hotel and I took a group here. The owner Phil is incredibly friendly. The food was fresh and tasty. The lobster was scrumptious and so were my friends burgers. I highly recommend the 1846.

Top of the line. Used to be a stop for stagecoaches. The best pumpkin-maple soup ever. Ask about the on tap ales. Smuttynose dark ale is excellent. Superb quality meals. The salmon fillet and steak tips were delicious.

My fiancée and I recently participated in the Green Mountain Adventure Challenge headquartered at the West Dover Inn. The Green Mountain Adventure Challenge was a fun and challenging hunt in the small town of Dover, VT. The challenge was well organized and was the perfect level of difficulty. It wasn't impossible to finish but it was definitely a mental and physical work out. The hiking involved offers some great views and Dover has a great small town atmosphere. The staff at the inn and tavern were very friendly and the food at the tavern was fantastic. Overall it was a great vacation that I would highly reccommend. In fact we plan on coming back for next year's challenge.

My Husband and I recently visited the quaint and pretty West Dover Inn in Vermont for a week's stay. We stayed in the Mount Snow Suite which was very comfortable with gas fireplace and spa tub. We are not skiers but we wanted a place to relax and enjoy the winter weather since we love the winter and snow. The West Dover Inn more than fulfilled our expectations. Phil, the owner was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for places to go and things to see. All of the staff at the Inn were very personable and clearly committed to assuring that your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as it can be. We really liked the live music at the bar which is scheduled Thursday through Sunday. There are also comfortable places to sit and read or play a game in the beautifully decorated living room if you don't feel like venturing outdoors. And for those that do, Mt. Snow which has skiing, tubing and snowmobiling and Timber Creek which has cross country skiing and snow shoeing are about 1 mile north of the Inn and there is a very pretty hiking trail behind the Inn. The West Dover Inn has 12 rooms which range from single rooms to suites. It has a dining room with fireplace and a cozy bar. They serve breakfast and dinner in both bar and dining room 7 days a week. We were also very pleased with the 1846 Tavern and Restaurant at the Inn. The quality and service were excellent. For dinner, there was a good selection of meat and seafood dishes. Some friends of ours joined us for dinner one night and he had the buffalo wings and tenderloin steak tips and she, who happens to be a chef, had the duck and both agreed that those selections were excellent. My husband had the meatloaf and I had the fish and chips and those entrees were perfectly done. The prices are pretty reasonable too. The breakfasts were delicious too. The owner cooked the breakfasts himself and his omelet, packed full of vegetables and cheese was one of our favorites. There is also the typical breakfast fare of eggs, pancakes, oatmeal and cereal. Another one which we really liked was the pancakes with banana filling. Next time you are in Vermont near Mt. Snow, I recommend the West Dover Inn for a pleasant stay and their 1846 Tavern and Restaurant for breakfast or dinner. You will not be disappointed. In fact, we will be returning soon for another visit this summer.

Very good food but considering the price not worth going to. The service was absolutely horrible. It took an hour to get our food, I had to ask for bread and when we asked for more I was told they were all out. How can you run out of bread. I got a $29.00 duck dish that was really good when I finally got it. I asked for a side salad with my meal and was charged $7.00 for it!!!! I don't know where they get off charging me $7.00 for a SIDE salad after I ordered a $29.00 entree. All together food was very good but terrible service and expensive prices make me never want to go back.

It can be a chore to sort through the daily barrage of Living Social deals, but luckily this one caught our eye and sent us cruising to the West Dover Inn over a long weekend. So glad we came. This might be the off-season in southern Vermont, but the Inn was booked solid. Our room was not the ritziest but was spacious and had everything you could ask for - tasteful antiques on the mantelpiece, beautiful dark wood furniture, a fireplace, a big bed, and a view of the garden. Oh, and the wine and cheese tray that greeted us when we first opened the door. Innkeeper Phil and his family take good care of their guests. They are Boston transplants - note the subtle and not-so-subtle Red Sox paraphernalia - but the effort they put in tells you they are here to stay. Phil showed us around the property, and gave us maps and tips for hiking trails, swimming holes, kayak rentals, and sightseeing destinations. He also told us about local lore and celebrities such as cartoon artist Skip Morrow. Phil's son, a recent transplant from LA, made us feel especially welcome. A good-sized breakfast including coffee/tea came with the room. The Inn also packed us a free picnic lunch the day we went hiking. As if that weren't enough, the Living Social voucher featured a $50 credit towards dinner at the 1846 Restaurant, which was one of the better meals we've had in or out of New York. We started with a cool strawberry and mint soup made from locally-grown ingredients and followed it up with the sweetest, creamiest butternut squash ravioli I can remember. Both the ravioli and the duck entree we ordered were superbly prepared and came right away. Between courses, we watched the magician's show by the bar, which had good local brews on tap dispensed by an easygoing fellah from Orlando. Is anyone here actually *born in* Vermont? When it came time to relax, we could pick from one of three porch/garden areas in which to read our books and sip our wine, or settle into the big leather chair in the living room and leaf through old magazines. The other reviewers are right - the shower can be temperamental until you find the sweet spot. And yes, you absolutely need a car to get around. Also - be aware that taxes and tips are not included in the Living Social price. All the same, we enjoyed terrific food, terrific company, and the best two nights of sleep I got all year. Highly recommended.

Cozy with delicious food! Had the salmon and it was OUTTA THIS WORLD! Fun to have live music in the background. We sat in the dining room, not the bar. Would definitely go back.

Very bad experience. Long wait despite a reservation, neglectful service; no bread or water despite numerous requests. Problems with entrees, including one entree brought out twice totally cold and other entrees lacking elements described in the menu. Mgmt. did take the entree off the tab, but added a 20 percent tip without asking. Very long Dissappointing dinner, as it took over an hour to get the entrees and with kids after a full day skiing, that was close to a disaster.

My favorite place in the West Dover area to eat. Fantastic food and service in a beautiful Vermont setting. Phil and his team go out of their way to make you feel at home.

Highly recommended!!!! Found this restaurant via Yelp. The owner Phil was extremely nice and helpful accommodating my party of 10. The food was delicious, the price was reasonable and the dining experience was characteristic of a charming restaurant in a cozy ski town. Jay the magician entertainer helped pass the time. It did take a while to get the food... but I wonder if it was because we had such a big party or if it was part of the entertainment act. For food, I would recommend the duck, it was out of this word. If you like brie, the appetizer is delicious.

My husband and I tried the 1846 on a Sunday for lunch because a local told us it was their favorite place. Sadly, we were disappointed. We showed up at about 12:15 to be told that they weren't ready to serve lunch because they were still cleaning up from breakfast. Mind you, their hours are 8am to 10pm. So we opted to wait until they were ready at about 12:30. I ordered the salmon BLT and my husband ordered the bib lettuce salad. He was told in advance that avocado was not available because it was not in season (when is it in-season in VT?). My sandwich was just okay. I had wrongly assumed that the salmon would be fresh. It was not, it was definetely frozen. I had ordered onion rings instead of fries. They were borderline burnt. My husband's salad on the other hand was just sad. It looked like a side salad that you would normally pay $4 for. There was one slice of bacon, 2 or 3 cherry tomatoes, lettuce, and cucumbers. It was the smallest salad I have ever seen. I actually asked him where the rest of it was. Needless to say, they did not lower the price on the salad even though the most expensive item was out of season and the salad was miniscule. We left feeling utterly ripped off and my husband left almost as hungry as he entered.

The food at 1846 Tavern and Restaurant is simply fabulous! Each dish is so thoughtfully prepared and the combination of flavors is brilliant! Everything that came out of the kitchen was wonderful and we've been talking about that meal ever since. It definitely raises the bar for your future dining experiences. Make sure you try the Mushroom Bisque and the Salmon Fillet... both are just to die for! Huge thanks to Chef Kyle Garell!

I really enjoyed my stay at the West Dover Inn. The room was clean and comfortable. The common room was plentifully equipped with games, cards, magazines, and a warm fireplace. The Inn was very convenient to Mt. Snow, just a quick drive up the road. And for such a small place, the restaurant bar was always hopping. They had live music in the bar, and often had a piano player at dinner. The food at the attached restaurant was excellent, one would expect to be at a 5-star restaurant in Boston, and not at a scenic Inn in VT. The service at the restaurant was excellent as well. Kathy and Phil, the owners, were often found in the dining room or behind the bar, serving up food and drinks with a smile. They made us feel like part of the family.

Food was awesome, as well as the staff. It was a bit pricey given the quality of the meal, but overall it was a good time. You really can't go wrong with such a great wine selection and good, stiff drinks!!

This was the most wonderful place I have ever stayed. The innkeeepers were friendly, kind and welcoming. We got upgraded to a suite room for free, and the room was adorable: warm, cozy and inviting. It had a jacuzzi which was an unexpected perk. The wine and cheese was amazing- of course, it is Vermont! The innkeepers were involved with our stay, but not intrusively so: they made sure to ask what we were doing that day and if we wanted any suggestions they were happy to give us options. They also made an adorable welcome package for us, and gave us a puzzle map that we had to piece together in order to find something. They were creative and funny, they made us laugh, they showed us around, and they made us reservations at the local chocolatorium. They were so giving, and can I just add that the food was DELICIOUS- it was the most amazing French Toast I've ever had. Breakfast for kings both days, and dinner at the restaurant far surpassed any dinner I've ever had. I've been eating ravioli since I was able to chew, and these were the best raviolis I've ever had. The mushroom soup was earthy and delicious and they even brought up small samplers of strawberry soup for us to try. Our server was the nicest guy I could ever imagine, talking to us for a few minutes and giving us time to ourselves And, everyone in that community is so nice. The artist nearby is one of their friends and everyone in the community cares about how you are doing. The innkeepers are happy to plan hikes for you, and are genuinely caring and funny. Right nearby is the Robert Frost house, a couple of nice breweries, and wonderful hiking trails. And sometimes a magician performs at night in the restaurant. What more could you ask for? It's a wonderful place to visit; a better place to eat, and the best place to stay.

If you are skiing at Mt. Snow or traveling anywhere in the vicinity (18 miles from Bennington, VT) you should make the West Dover Inn & Restaurant part of your travel itinerary. The restaurant is off to the side of a classic VT Inn, and all the warm and friendly personalities expected of a small Vermont Town are present at this restaurant. When we first arrived, Christmas Eve 2007, we were greeted by the owner who then spoke to us about his wine cellar and helped us select a great Cabernet (Chteau Ste. Michelle, Washington). The setting was delightful and private with working fireplaces and table arrangements that allowed for feeling like you were the only couple in the place. The wait staff was knowledgeable of the menu, which had many variations of the standard meat, fish and pastas. The food descriptions looked so good it was difficult to finally decide. We wound up ordering for our main courses the Trio Ravioli and a filet mignon which we shared (the compromise to our inability to decide). The Trio each with a unique filling and sauce could rival the most gourmet ravioli establishment, and the steak was tender, flavor packed and accompanied by the ever necessary delicate balance of green vegetable, mashed potatoes and carrots that rounded out what turned out to be a perfect meal. Our expectations were not high given a Christmas Eve dinning out, however the restaurant was clearly also a local favorite. Every table was filled, and our request for a 1900 reservation could only accommodate us at 1930 due to the popularity of the West Dover Inn & Restaurant. Dinner was reasonably priced for 2, with appetizer or salad, main courses and wine at ~$100. Next time I am in VT I'll make certain to stop by the West Dover Inn and Restaurant to try my taste buds on something else which I have no doubt will be just as enjoyable.

Salmon honey seared Excellent. Steak tips excellent. Bread with the maple butter was mouth watering delicious. Chocolate mousse cup fantastic! Chocolate Sundae very good. On a busy Monday night we heard a very talented guitar playing singer who played James Taylor songs, Eagle songs, America songs, Simon & Garfunkle, Cats in the Cradle, man is HE is very talented! You want to sing along. What a Wonderful night! And we met the owner and he was so kind. He remodeled the bar area and opened it up and it looks pretty good. He was very friendly and the servers were awesome. Wish they were closer to NC!!

In on a Saturday night after doing the tough mudder at Mt. Snow. Great ambience and a warm cozy feel. We sat in the bar area which was perfect for us and the live music was just the right level to be enjoyed while still able to have a table conversation. Really nice craft beer selection served in mason jars (see picture) and good attentive service despite being very busy. Started with the soup which was a corn/bacon chowder and was just excellent. Wings to split as an app which were cooked just right and very solid. Salmon BLT for a main which was a nice BLT twist and tasted very good (and fresh). Our group stuck to pub fare (burgers et al) and everyone enjoyed their meal and dining experience thoroughly. The menu does have a lot to offer beyond the pub fare we ordered, which I would definitely go back to try based on our experience and the many other favorable Yelp reviews.

What makes an Inn great is its ability to comfort you and West Dover Inn does that well. I've visited a couple of times but this was my first since the renovation of the bar/restaurant and I was blown away by how great it looks. I kicked off my stay with dinner in the Tavern and was thrilled to learn that they have a raw bar. I've been wanting to try oysters so my party and I ordered 2 each as well as a sampling of other appetizers such as the buffalo wings and crab cake. I loved everything! I've been drooling over those appetizers ever since. I followed this up with the grass fed burger which was generously portioned. The chef also sent over an order of fried oysters so I really got a crash course that weekend and now all I want to eat are fried oysters. Whiled we noshed a singer belted out classic tunes and helped to create a fun atmosphere. My friends and I stayed in a recently renovated room which comfortably fit four of us and had a beautiful, big bathroom! I always know that I'm going to enjoy my stay here and yet every time my expectations are exceeded. It is obvious that a lot of hardwork and dedication has gone into every inch of the establishment and it truly shows. I will be returning at the end of May and I really can't wait. It truly is a special place and a worthwhile visit no matter the time of year.

Quite the servings! I came in here hungry and reaaaaaally wanted to tear through most of the menu. Steak, fish, duck, burgers, apps, entrees.... It was really tough deciding on what to order. Snagged some wings (it was the Superbowl!) which had a nice buffalo sauce, but also were spiced well to give em a little kick. The bacon and arugula chowder was solid. Could've been a bit better with more smokey bacon taste in the broth, but still delish! there were solid beers on tap and cocktails were a good pour with everything served in mason jars. Our server was attentive in brining us food/menus/filling water/getting the check. Bartender was also friendly when we walked in. The place looks very cool (recently renovated) and I would love to come back on my next visit to VT!

We stayed here 2 nights for the Green Mountain Adventure and I can't say enough good things about the people here. Phil was always helpful and friendly, the bartender was funny and charming, the yard workers always smiled at you and said hi. On top of that, the food was great and the atmosphere was very cozy, clean, and intimate. I think they had just renovated the bar and restaurant so we were very fortunate to have spent our time here. We slacked on the adventure and cozied up on the hammock instead- they weren't kidding when they said it was difficult though. The room itself was very big, and clean. They came in and even redid our sheets when we went out the next day. West Dover Inn was on top of their game :)

This bar/restaurant is terrible. I was there over the weekend and the owner who normally sits at the end of the bar was rude to all my guests. After I complained and got the check, he still continued his arrogance. STAY AWAY. this was my 2nd time there and the first was just as bad. He asked me to leave because I had my cell phone on the bar in case my kids called. There are so many great places other than this place in west dover like the saloon and last chair. It's a tiny bar with a rude owner that doesn't care of the customer needs.

First off, have to offer this great restaurant a lot of gratitude for being so understanding and patient when two members of our party were ~45 minutes late and we had to sit waiting for them through the dinner rush. Nearly all of the food was excellent, easily justifying the slightly higher prices, especially the addictive pumpkin bisque and spectacular salmon entree. The only disappointment was a super-thick, not-super-flavorful hunk of cheesecake that my dad ordered at the end of the our meal, which seemed devoid of the caramel promised by its name on the menu. Aside from the lame dessert, I give four stars rather than five based on the high, uncomfortable seats. While we loved the dinner, we left with sore calves (granted, we sat for longer than most probably would)!

We're currently staying in the West Dover Inn, and so we decided to eat at the 1846 since it's obviously right here. Great choice. First of all, the Inn is fantastic. Well kept, clean and nice room. Cosy living area, and super friendly staff. The meal was just as great as the room is. I had the steak medallions, and my girlfriend had the Shepard's pie. We both loved it, stuffed our faces until it hurt, and still managed to sit around until we could order the lava cake which was worth every penny. The food and drinks are a little on the pricey side, but worth it, especially if you're staying at the Inn here. Our service was excellent! The server was both funny and friendly, and we had a great experience. Should we find ourselves back in Dover, we'll be stopping by here again, I'm sure.

Giving this place 5 stars because I was continuously surprised with everything the Inn had to offer. The room we stayed in was cozy, clean, and equipped with a propane fireplace and flat screen TV. After a long day of skiing, going back to this room was the perfect way to unwind. After checking out the menu and dining facilities at the 1846 tavern we decided to get dinner and catch the football game there. Luckily the food, atmosphere, and experience was amazing. The Inn keeper, Phil, also was a pleasure to talk to and has great recommendations and seems well connected in the area - so if you need anything he's your guy. I would highly recommend both the Inn and the tavern!

Back again for another great stay, and the food just keeps getting better! The crab cakes and he scallops were out of this world. We had the opportunity to chat with the execute chef after dinner and he is extremely passionate about his creations. Awesome place! By far our favorite in the northeast.

One star simply because I can't give zero. This is the worst food I had in years. How can a restaurant screw up something as simple as a chicken salad so badly? I'm impressed. It's way too much salt and the chicken was so dry, tasted like rubber. We were a group of 12 and not a single one of us was satisfied. I really wonder how come this place has 4 stars, seriously, I'd prefer to spend the money on MCDonald's. Not sure about the Inn, but as a restaurant, it really sucks.

The food at this restaurant is very good. The wings are scrumptious, crispy, and flavorful. Live music is presented often, however lacks pizazz. Music needs some work, especially after the hype of the 20 minute set up time. Kale and bacon clam chowder is also very good. Beer on tap too.

Came to Mt Snow for the weekend and enjoyed 1846 Tavern Pre and Post Tough Mudder! Loved the strip steaks and duck entrees. Great hot wings and fabulous dessert--lava cake was the favorite. Excellent service, cute decor and enjoyable experience!

We stayed at the West Dover Inn last week for 2 nights for the Green Mountain Adventure Challenge. The room was clean, comfortable and quaint. The innkeeper, Phil, and his family were incredibly accommodating and really helped to make our stay one of the best we've ever had! Breakfasts were delicious, and they were even able to fully accommodate a gluten free diet, which was very important to us when deciding where to stay. The restaurant attached to the inn was amazing! The food was delicious and the live music made for a great environment. The staff really made us feel at home. The adventure challenge led us to delicious local eateries, along with beautiful hikes with amazing views. It was challenging but enjoyable to decipher the clues along the way. The townspeople of West Dover and Wilmington were all involved to help guide you when you were feeling lost, without giving anything significant away. It was fun to meet other couples completing the challenge along the way. What made this trip truly special was completing the adventure challenge. When we finally reached the end, my boyfriend proposed!! Phil and his family had helped my boyfriend place a beautiful box with the words "Will You Marry Me", inside the finish point. When we arrived and I opened the box, I was completely surprised and overjoyed! Phil and his family really went above and beyond to make this weekend truly incredible and very memorable. Phil's daughter, Lauren, even came back with us to take pictures where he proposed to help us remember this special day. We had a fabulous time and will certainly be returning.

This is exactly what we were looking for... An incredibly rustic après ski experience! The place was so charming, it reminded me of something you would find in west Jersey or Eastern PA. We started with a meat and cheese plate, which was good but nothing exotic. I got creative with my entree and ordered a "small" order of boneless buffaloes strips and a salad. The "small" order was 5 strips and they were huge! I wound up only using two on my salad but they were delish and my date was happy to finish them off for me. They were SUPER spicy....which I LOVE! (But some don't) Wine selection was decent but a little pricey. The place has different entertainment for each night of the week, and I was somewhat bummed that we missed te magician's night! My only complaint was that the waitress was a little slow. I think she was overwhelmed to start given that she was the only one working our area of the dining room but it cleared out at the end of the evening. Definitely check this place out!

Came here for dinner with some friends after a long day on Mount Snow. This review is for the restaurant. A friend and I ordered some beers and they came chilled, with chilled glasses. Very nice touch. Wasn't expecting that. The butternut squash ravioli is insane. Perfectly cooked and comes with a light maple syrup sauce with dried cranberries. The flavors go surprisingly well together. I had the pork chop, which was a bit dry. It comes with a bleu cheese risotto which is very bleu cheesy but goes well with the pork. If you plan on getting this, ask for the pork chop done medium or medium well. My fiancee got the scallops, which were a bit pricey, but really good. They also came with a risotto but I don't remember what went into it. The meatloaf was very flavorful and had a lot of kick...maybe a liitle too much. The bar gets really crowded and loud so if you're looking for a nice quiet dinner, come early.

Dinner in the patio with our dog was really good. Service was attentive even to the dog. They brought him a bowl and carafe of water. The cheese and charcuterie app was good, I had a watermelon salad (wish it had been bigger) which was tasty and my husband had a good chicken sandwich. They had a live acoustic singer. On a Tuesday! Very entertaining. Must try this place.

I've stayed here a bunch of times and every time has been a 5 star stay! I love this place! It's a quaint little Inn with some serious New England charm. My most recent stay was with friends. We had a suite that had a queen size bed and pull-out couch, which comfortably fit all 4 of us. The room was very clean and well decorated. The family that runs the inn is incredibly warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home. Now for my favorite part, the food. We had dinner at the 1846 Tavern the night we were there and breakfast the next day. The service again was amazing! We had shared a few of the appetizers: the crab cake, buffalo wings, raw and fried oysters and chicken lettuce wraps (okay so we ordered almost all of the appetizers). Everything was very tasty and I highly recommend the crab cake and lettuce wraps! For dinner I ordered the grass-fed burger. I loved that not only was the burger grass-fed, it also came from a local farm. It was cooked perfectly and the hand-cut fries it came with were extra good (no ketchup necessary). The atmosphere in the Tavern just added to the entire experience! They had live music and a fire going. It was cozy and made for a very inviting atmosphere to hang out all night! Breakfast the next day was also very good. Well cooked and simple and exactly what was needed after a few whiskey drinks the night before! Overall, I'd highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a cozy Vermont getaway or anyone planning on skiing at Mt. Snow (they're really close by).

We had an 8 pm reservation and were seated promptly. The restaurant was completely full so our waitress was a little harried but she did the best she could with so many tables to wait upon. We had drinks and fantastic bread with homemade butter. The food was delicious. Our guests were very impressed with the gourmet cuisine. The mussels were superb. We had a chicken parm, scallops, and duck. The duck was juicy and the sauce was fantastic. Our friend loved the chicken parm but didn't care for the tomatoe sauce on the pasta. The scallops were delicious. The only reason we didn't give the restaurant 5 stars was the slow service and the tomato sauce. Hopefully next time this will improve and we can give the establishment 5 stars.

A quaint country tavern-style restaurant with live music. The menu is somewhat limited and touristy priced (high) but the food is very good. Limited vegetarian options, but willing to accommodate you. I asked and they made me a tasty vegetarian risotto.

My sister and I came back to the tavern again this weekend while doing the Green Mountain Adventure Challenge. Enjoyed a few beers while socializing with other patrons, both tourists and locals. Employees are friendly. We will be back again next year.

They seated us within 10min which is good. But then we sat around for 15 min until I got up to tell someone that no one has served us yet. Then waited another 10 min for water. Ordered fried brussel chips for an appetizer. They would have tasted better with some dipping sauce but instead we felt like they were scraps scrapped off a pan. I ordered the fish and chips. Original I know but what can I say, I love my fried foods. Taste good, like your average fish and chips. My wife ordered the pan seared scallops, they looked very tasty on the menu. Came with 4 juicy scallops and what seems like a carrot ginger risotto (not enough for a big guy like me but more than enough for her). They were spectacular!! I just had to steal one from her lol.

We went here for breakfast before hitting mount snow, rustic atmosphere, clean, and friendly. I found it to be a little more upscale as far as breakfast goes, the food was good and it was a little pricey.

This restaurant was conveniently located down the road from the Inn we were staying at. We were seated by the fire which was very cozy and added to the ambiance of our dinner. It was mederately busy and we received excellent service, and there was even someone singing and playing guitar in the bar area (Friday night). We got a glass of white wine for $8 and a bottle of beer for $4 plus the honey salmon entree and the Mac and cheese. The fish was beautifully presented and nicely paired with beets, asparagus and Brussels sprouts. The Mac and cheese was extremely hot and took a long while to cool down enough to eat, but it was good. This adorable place was everything we wanted on a friday night!

I am staying here right now and the bad reviews absolutely blow my mind. The food is GOOD and the service is as good as it can be during a very busy week. People expect to walk in without reservations during the busiest week of the year and be treated like royalty. Wake up I am here with 2 kids and the staff has been accommodating, friendly, and helpful. The rooms are ok, the location is great and I really have enjoyed the food. I don't know what people expect. Make a reservation and enjoy.

1846 used to be my favorite restaurant in the area. The food has always been delicious, and the atmosphere was great- we loved sitting in the cozy bar area in the winter and on the patio in warmer weather. The new vibe that came with the renovation, however, leaves much to be desired. Last Saturday we were up for the weekend and brought friends from home in Boston to 1846 after raving about it. I was so embarrassed! We sat at a table near the bar and had both service from the bartender and a waitress (unlike the old way of just being served by the bartender). The older man bartending was atrocious: abrupt, rude, and obviously wasted. He seems to hate talking to/interacting with people in general so I have no idea why he is a bartender. Our waitress seemed stressed and overwhelmed the whole time, but she is a veteran so I wonder if the new setup doesn't sit well with her either. When our check came we were charged for an extra chicken parm entree and the waitress didn't seem surprised or apologetic at all when we pointed it out. We were not high maintenance customers so it just seemed odd that she couldn't at least pretend to care that we were overcharged. The next morning we ran into diners at Dots who had also been to 1846 the night before, and they brought up the bizarre behavior of the bartender as well and said the drinks he made them barely had any alcohol. I must say the food was excellent as always, but not worth the price considering the discouraging service. Sadly I'm not sure if we will be back anytime soon. What a shame!

Got the living social deal last year and finally got a free weekend to use it! West Dover seems to be largely a ski town, but we ventured up here in May to take advantage of the hiking and outdoor activities. We found the atmosphere to be laid back, casual, and everyone was super friendly! As far as the Inn goes: Our deal came with a bottle of delicious wine and a cheese plate waiting in our room upon arrival. The room was small, but had everything we needed: very comfy queen size bed, a little bathroom, and nice, big TV with cable. I LOVED the extra soft comforter on the bed. It smelled like cherries and I wanted to take it home! There was a balcony just outside our room that is meant to be shared with everyone. It was a nice place to sip on that wine and relax after our long drive. The Innkeeper, Phil, was so friendly and accommodating! He showed us around and asked what we'd like to do the following day. We told him we were interested in hiking. The next morning, he had maps with highlighted routes and typed directions. How awesome is that?! We didn't have to waste time getting lost or trying to figure this stuff out on our own. He gave us directions to the local state park where we could find trails and a waterfall, along with directions to a gift store, Hildene (Abraham Lincoln's estate), the Chocolatorium, outlet stores, a place to go kayaking, Robert Frost's house and some other local attractions. Needless to say, we had quite a selection of places to choose from for the day! Phil also packed us a picnic lunch (delicious chicken salad sandwiches with chips, an apple, and bottled waters). I do have one complaint about the Inn.. I read this in another review and thought someone was being overly sensitive, but I actually agree that the bath towels smell funny. There was kind of a musty odor to all the towels, as if maybe they were sitting in the washer for a while and weren't fully dried. Oh, and you should probably bring your own soap. I thought the soaps had a funky odor, as well. Now for the Tavern and Restaurant: The prices are pretty high, but since we had a $25 credit with our deal, it wasn't so bad. The bar offers a fair selection of mostly local draft beers, plus a full bar of liquor and wine. The bartender was very friendly and made time to talk to us about the local brews, even though he was very busy. I had the Scallops, which came recommended by our bartender. They were cooked well and served with a flavorful carrot risotto. Jordan had the fish and chips.. not your typical beer battered fish, but it was really more of a breaded fillet. It wasn't what was expected, but still super fresh, flaky and delicious. The breakfast which was included with our deal was great! Most B&B's don't really offer much of a choice for breakfast, but we had a small menu. We enjoyed the veggie omelet on our first day which was great, and on day two I got banana pancakes and Jordan had the French Toast. Both were excellent! If you're going to stay in the area, West Dover Inn and 1846 are both great choices!

The food was incredible and a great value. The oysters were especially delicious and a great deal. We drive the back way from Stratton just to go here for dinner sometimes. Fun bar, live music, and great service.

Worst rib eye I've ever had in my life! Exterior was burnt and the gravy was extremely salty! For $33 you could have much much better rib eye even in New York City. Waitress was super ignorant! Nobody never asked about how the food was during our entire 2 hour dining experience. Never go there again. I give one star only because I cannot give zero!

Hidden culinary talent in the woods of Vermont. The food here was outstanding. We stayed at an Inn up the road and our innkeeper sent us here. Live music in the bar to end the night. Our waitress was great!!

This place was an unexpected find. We went there expecting burgers and beers, which they have at reasonably prices, but they also have amazing fine dining options. we changed our plan and decided to try some of their fancier items, and we were very glad we did. I tried their house scallops and my wife ordered the steak tips. My scallops were cooked perfectly and served with a delicious orange ginger sauce. But the real star was the bed of risotto that accompanied the dish. If they packaged this stuff, I would buy it by the crateful. The steak tips were very tender and perfectly seasoned. They came with a delicious bed of rice pilaf and crunch green beans. For dessert we had their homemade panna cotta. It was dreamy! My compliments to the chef and to all of the staff who were very friendly. This is truly a unique place for Southern VT. You can find great pub food along side high cuisine and fresh seafood. They also have a raw bar. I look forward to coming back.

What a great place. First the warm welcome from the friendly staff was a pleasure. The room was just what I was looking for to unwind and relax. The staff here is so welcoming and helpful. The restaurant that is attached to the Inn is amazing. I kept coming back each day so I could try something new off the menu. My stay also came with complimentary breakfast. I'm not a huge egg fan but the French toast with the homemade maple butter was the icing on the cake. I will certainly be returning.

This place has been recently renovated from a small cozy bar and restaurant to an open, sort of rustic, bar area and restaurant. Personally, I liked the old set-up much better but I can understand the changes. Meals were still good and reasonably priced which is getting harder to find in the area. We'll continue to go there but we'll miss the old atmosphere and the former bartender. The two they have now are fine but not as good as the one that left.

Review is for restaurant only. Might be the best if staying nearby. Good (but not great) salmon BLT for only 10 bucks. Nice portion. Salmon dinner- very nicely presented. Pretty good. 24 bucks was too high. I can't see being too disappointed here or wowed. A safe bet.

Fabulous place. Authentic small town New England inn, with a quintessential Innkeeper, Phil. Breakfast was fresh, homemade, complete with VT cheddar and "fancy" maple syrup. Dinner was right on also, with several high end entrees to choose from, as well as decent looking pub food. Charismatic bartender, Greg, and live acoustic music on Friday and Saturdays. Nice that the Tavern was attached to the Inn so you never had to leave! Would definitely return for another little ski weekend and some cozy digs at the West Dover Inn!

I stopped into the Tavern for a meal and a couple beers. Great service and great food. I had the steak tips which came with potatoes and vegetables. The steak was cooked perfectly and dinner rolls were delicious. They had several local beers on tap to go along with the perfect meal. I'll definitely return.

My boyfriend and I found a living social deal and decided, what the heck!? If you are looking to get away for a weekend, and I mean GET AWAY from people and civilization, this is the place to go. This area of Vermont is beauitiful, the owner gives you a whole route to take around the VT. area and it is a fun little drive. The tour will take you all day, if you want to hike and such at Jamaica park, dont plan on making it to the Maple Liqueur distillary or any of the other gems that you can find. I would have give this place a 5 if they were better prepared for GF. If you go online to the 1846 menu it says they are Gluten Free Friendly, they did not have many options for me. I was disappointed...the scallops were good but that was about all I could eat besides a bunless burger. The place is quiet and worth the drive if you have the time.

The biggest pluses are the friendly owner and the restaurant under the same roof. The biggest OKs are the accommodations, but all I need to say there is that you're staying in a house that's just 34 years shy of 2 centuries - this is not a downtown hotel with the latest amenities. Adjust your expectations. The biggest minuses are nothing. We had a great time relaxing in Southern VT, with lots of help from the owner on how we can spend our days. The breakfasts were good, and the dinner was absolutely delicious. We did a little bit of exploring, a little bit of lounging, and a little bit of chatting with the owner - very pleased with this getaway!

This was a great place to stay for the price. The people were very friendly, I loved the fact that it had a restaurant and bar with a guy playing guitar when we were there....just lovely! We had some drinks at the bar and enjoyed the music, then headed in to the dining area for dinner. The dinner was good. After we could just walk right over to our room, super convenient. The room was great, bed was comfy, nice TV with plenty of free channels, a fireplace...the bathroom was a bit small and dated. Took one star off because there was a noise coming from the wall near our headboard that kept me awake all night. I don't know what it was, some sort of plumbing or heating issue??? Despite this I still had a pleasant stay.

In response to the above review, I received the following message from the restaurant: "You are no longer welcome here. Our staff has decided you are too much of a problem guest. Please do not try to make any reservations under anyone's name for this winter. Thank you." Most restaurants upon disappointing a good customer would strive to gain that customer back...I guess not this place. Just goes to show how much they care about their customers. Good luck!

Loved it. The place is laid back with good food. It's mud season so business was slow but that enabled me to talk to the owner and some other patrons. Very nice atmosphere and a choice burger. I'll be back with the family!

So I just got home from a weekend at The West Dover Inn, and I must say that I had an AMAZING time. Let me start from the beginning: This weekend I planned to propose to my girlfriend. I decided this needed to be a big production. You (hopefully) only get married once. Phil Gilpin, the innkeeper, was a HUGE help. He recommended a wonderful ranch to go horseback riding (The Mountain View Ranch) as well as a florist to fill the room with flowers (Heather's Flower Shop). He knows the area VERY well and is amazingly friendly. He really goes that extra mile to make you feel welcome, at home, at ease, and taken care of. As a side note, he has as thick Boston accept that reminds me of one of my uncles, whom I love, so that immediately set me at ease. All of his suggestions added up to a wonderful proposal (in a beautiful meadow with a gorgeous mountain view - that ranch lives up to its name!). I proposed on a Sunday; the flower shop wasn't open on a Sunday. Phil received the flowers on Saturday, before we even GOT to the inn, held on to them, then placed them in the room while we were gone. My now-fiancee (she said yes!) was absolutely thrilled! The room iself (the Dover Room) was cute. It was a bigger room, designed for families with kids - there were multiple beds. (The multiple beds actually worked out well since one night, I was tossing and turning a bit because I hurt my shoulder during the day, and I knew it would keep my fiancee up, so I slept in the smaller bed.) The room was well kept, clean, and nice. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were nice (I'm picky about pillows). It also had a Vizio HDTV, which I didn't expect. My laptop has an HDMI output - I could've brought an HDMI cable to watch movies! :) I don't know what other people are saying about the towels smelling weird - mine smelled fine! As a side bonus, the conditioning shampoo did some really nice things to my hair - and I have long, thick, occasionally very unmanageable black hair. I could hear the bar beneath us just slightly, but they stopped at 10:30, long before we needed to go to sleep. Also, free, fast wi-fi. None of this bullshit with paying per day, or paying for data. It was free. PERIOD. I cannot STAND it when hotels charge you for wifi. My SO and I were able to enjoy all the streaming Netflix we wanted. I would've been very happy with all of that, but the 1846 Tavern and Restaurant was FANTASTIC! We went here on a Living Social deal, so we got a $25 credit there. So of course, we tried it the first night. BLOWN. AWAY. I had the panko-fried chicken with this absolutely HEAVENLY maple bourbon cream reduction. It was heaven, heaven I tell you! I poured the rest of the sauce (they're generous with it) on my mashed potatoes, which were creamy and delicious. We had a soft-shell crab appetizer too, which was very crispy and delicious. My significant other got the scallops, which were spicy, tender, and absolutely wonderful. I've never really loved scallops, but that dish made me a believer. I couldn't decide which one I liked more! The next night, we returned and I had the demi glazed 12 oz steak (it was huge - none of this, "12 oz before we cooked it" crap like in NYC) which was perfect pink and medium rare. The glaze was thick and delicious. My SO got the honey roasted salmon which she loved. Also, on the weekend nights we were there, this guy Michael Flynn was playing covers of old 60s rock and folk songs. Really helped set the ambience. I enjoyed him immensely. As a side note: my fiancee and I are from Jersey City, NJ, right across the river from Manhattan. We're used to excellent food and people being enormous fucking douches all the time. The food at the 1846 was fantastic and exceeded our high expectations for chow. And the people in Vermont? The nicest I've ever met. People were smiling, saying hello, being sweet and unpretentious and kind and... god, it was just so refreshing!! To remember that not everyone is doing the hard sprint through life like we do in the big city. That some people, people who maybe have their heads screwed on a bit straighter than the rest of us, have figured out how to be good at something, do it well, and be really happy while they do it. And to spread that happiness around. Vermont, man. There's nothing like it. As a side side side note: I'm Chinese. My fiancee is a blonde-haired, blue-eyed white girl. I didn't get shit from ANYONE. Not one sideways glance, not one eyeball-f**k. Nothing. I've been to states where this has been a real issue for us (Pennsylvania, I'm looking at you). None of that crap in Vermont. I love it here, and can't wait to come back.

We have a vacation home in West Dover and dine frequently in the area. We will never choose this restaurant again. We dined here this week and the staff was uncaring, food quality was not worth the cost and atmosphere was chaotic. Thankfully, there are other better places to dine in the Deerfield Valley.

This is the highlight of our Vermont trip to eat at this wonderful restaurant! Their entrees are amazing and beautifully prepared. The wait staff are very friendly and polite. The decor in the dining room is very casual and low key and you would never guess that this place would serve food sooo good! Our favorite restaurant in Vermont!

Good food but a tad on the pricey side - 3.5 stars. We got the corn bisque and wings as appetizers - both were really good. The burger was a good entree but nothing super special. Ok drink selection, but could be bested by many other places in town or other places in Vermont. Friendly service.

Stopped in for dinner with my group after a long day of skiing at Mt. Snow. We weren't expecting much from this place, but we ended up being pleasantly surprised at the quality and service of this place. /our group ended up splitting 3 appetizers which were all delicious. We sorta stuffed ourselves with the apps and by the time we got our entrees, none of us could finish our food! My burger was out of this world, wished I didn't eat so much of the appetizers! Our server was really friendly and helpful. The place is a great spot to have a Longtail, relax, have a great meal and unwind after a long day of skiing.

Stayed w/my boyfriend back in December 2011 and had a great stay! Inn was good and dinner was fantastic along with the service. Second time around for dinner, I cannot say the same. Walked in Monday night (8/13/12). Seemed busy but was seated promptly. Service was not good. Waited too long to order our two martinis which were a low pour. The second round was even lower so I brought it back to the bartender and ask him to top it off. He was a snot and gave me an attitude about it. Appetizer plates sat on our table too long, had to ask for water refill.. small stuff but noticeable compared to last time. Too bad. Food was outstanding so I had to give 4 stars. Crab cake app; Scallops entree; Angus Filet entree; and Fruit Pie dessert - all very very good. Kudos to the chef!

Ate here on a Thursday night and the bar was busy with a mix of locals and vacationers, always a good sign. The food was excellent, service attentive and friendly, and the ambiance comfortable. We were much more satisfied with this meal than ours the previous night at Two Tannery Road.

was looking for a good place to eat while skiing at mt snow that wasn't a diner, bar or super expensive and stumbled upon this place. enjoyed it. it's not cheap. I got the scallops which is $27 but they were yummy. the bf got the pork chop which was a bit dry. if it was cooked medium it would have been perfect. the blue cheese risotto that comes with it was interesting but gets too heavy after a couple of bites. meatloaf was too spicy even for Asians like us. good but too spicy. would come back.

The West Dover Inn was a spectacular getaway destination for my boyfriend and I. We purchased a deal from Google Offers a few months ago for a weekend package which included a bottle of wine, chocolates, credit to the restaurant, and free breakfast for both of us for the whole weekend. We were given everything promised and everything about this place far exceeded our expectations! We stayed in the Haystack suite for the weekend (an upgrade from the original Google Offers package). It had a working fireplace, a small TV with lots of channels, a nice and comfy bed, and a HUGE jacuzzi in the bathroom. Everything was clean and updated yet cozy and had the feel of a quaint Vermont Inn. In addition, the food at the 1846 Tavern and Restaurant was phenomenal. We ate there for breakfast and dinner everyday and we were continuously impressed by the food. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and it could not have been better. What was even more impressive than the food and the inn itselfs was the helpful and friendly owners of the Inn. Phil and Phil (father and son) made themselves available for questions or information about the Inn and the surrounding area. They helped my boyfriend and I to plan our daily trips hiking and discovering Southern Vermont. We spent a wonderful day hiking on Haystack Mountain and on a pre-planned driving tour where we saw a Chocolate Museum, the Lincoln Family Home, some Museums, and a beautiful waterfall. Everything about this Inn and Southern Vermont was wonderful and I would highly recommend it to anyway looking to getaway for a Romantic or Family weekend. I cannot say enough great things about this place!! We will surely be back!!

One of the only things within walking distance from the bed and breakfast i stayed at was the 1846 Tavern & Restaurant. The Mister and i both ordered burgers and an appetizer of shrimp cocktail to share. When the shrimp cocktail came out it was 4 very small pieces of shrimp in a mini martini glass which clocked in at about $12. The burgers were ok but not spectacular. Mine was not cooked the way i requested, which kind of ruined it for me. I don't think the prices are in line with the portions here. The staff was pretty sterile and didn't engage in any conversation other than: "Here's the menu" and "Can i get you any dessert?" I did go in the off season... Maybe they are just buying time until the ski bunnies come back....? I didn't see anything coming out of the kitchen that looked similiar to the pictures posted here... Either way, i won't be eating here again.

Had an awesome group dinner at the 1846 Tavern and Restaurant. We had a group of 6 and dined later in the evening. There was a bit of a wait - but the restaurant was very accomodating and the service was excellent. Good drinks - crab cakes, raviloli apps were delicious. Everyone was very with their entree choice - I can vouch that the burger and scallops were excellent. Probably the most entertaining part was the magician that stopped by our table - definitely made the wait time fly by and was a very memorable experience.

My fiance and I were in town from Amherst, MA this past weekend thanks to a Living Social Deal for the Deerfield Valley Inn. Through our stay at DVI, we were given a $25 credit for 1846 tavern and restaurant and I'm so happy we did! There were a few things I noticed when I walked in but I'm not going to focus on the negative of our dinner. Instead we were seated at a table which felt like it was on stage because we were in the middle of the hustle and bustle and we felt stared at but that wasn't something the restaurant could fix. We ordered the Butternut Squash ravioli for our appetizer and I was BLOWN away. I know pasta and this was awesome! Totally worth every bite. My fiance ordered the pumpkin soup and a burger. The pumpkin soup was like pumpkin pie in soup formation. I hate pumpkin so I didn't enjoy it but she LOVED it. The burger was overcooked. She ordered it medium well but it was most definitely well done. Regardless it was tasty. I had the salmon and I ate every bite. It had fresh beets, asparagus and mashed potatoes under it. The piece of salmon was he perfect size and glazed with honey. I was so full. All in all it was a great meal. Pricey but great.

Last Friday night was a busy one in the valley. We had originally set out from our condo wanting to try the new Last Chair (formerly Deegan's), but the wait was over an hour. Next we tried the Saloon, which also had no seating. Finally, as we kept driving, we stopped into 1846 and asked how long the wait was for 4. We were told 30 minutes "at most." There was live music playing and room at the bar, and I spied a couple of decent offerings on tap, so we decided to wait it out. We sat down and were served right away. This was the highlight of the evening. From this point onwards it as issue after issue: 1) If you sit on the left side of the bar, be prepared for cold draftiness. The door to the bar is barn style, and no one closes it all the way. There is no sign that we could see asking people to close it fully. So instead, I became the defacto doorman. While the door doesn't lead to outside, it does lead to the chilly entranceway. 2) The men's bathroom had no paper towels or napkins or anything else on which to dry your hands. There wasn't much soap, and there were dead bugs present (notably, inside one of the eye-level picture frames!). 3) While the bartender was initially attentive, trying to get her attention for a refill round was a 20 minute challenge. 4) There were 2 draft beer offerings that, when we first popped our heads in, helped me/us decide to stay: Otter Creek Black IPA and something (maybe an Amber Ale?) from the Von Trapp Brewery in Stowe (hard to find). Well, during the long wait during which we could not get her attention, the bartender was filling rounds of this Von Trapp beer for other customers, during which she kicked the keg. The action of the keg being kicked shot foam and beer all over my friend, and there was not a word from the bartender. She acted like she didn't notice. How do you not notice that you just shot half a beer of foam all over someone that is 3 feet and directly in front of you? 5) After 50 minutes, we were finally seated. Next to a table of extremely drunk people who were making a scene. Awesome. 6) Our waitress was curt at best. This may be understandable as I am sure her nerves were fried from dealing with the neighboring table. 7) Our orders were: #1 - Caeser salad to start, braised lamb (I think, maybe it was pork) shank; #2 - steak tips medium; #3 - cheeseburger w fries, medium rare; #4 - bacon cheeseburger with onion rings, medium rare. What we got: a 30+ minute wait, no Caeser salad (never came out), steak tips that were blackened and charred on the outside and rare-medium rare on the inside, and a bacon cheeseburger with no bacon. Of course at this point, we were not sending things back. We were too hungry and had waited too long. The check revealed that the bacon and the Caesar salad were never even written down. We arrived a little after 8:00 and we did not leave until almost 11:30. I will certainly never be going back to this place.

This restaurant was an unforgettable experience. We went here as a last minute choice since it didn't have a wait and our party was very hungry. The hostess was friendly and they immediately sat us outside. The outside deck was sparkling with gigantic outdoor heaters to keep us warm on the chilly night. The beer selection was fantastic, we had yummy pumpkin beer garnished with a cinnamon crust on the rim of the glass. We munched on what I can honestly say as THE BEST buffalo wings I've ever had as an appetizer. Trust me on this, get these. Main course was the Shepherd's Pie which was nothing short of scrumptious!!! My sister and I split it because of the size but I could have easily eaten the entire thing. It was fresh, on the light side for a Shepherd's Pie, and perfect on a chilly Vermont night. My mother got the pumpkin ravioli which was amazing as well. I will definitely be returning... Loved the atmosphere, the service was phenomenal, and the food was epic.
